Silverstone to Sennen Rally 2017

Ben Tunnicliffe Sennen Cove teamed up with the Drivers Room and Arbuthnot Latham, Private Bankers, to organise a car tour proudly known as the tour from Silverstone to Sennen .

March 15th saw this adventure begin at the location of Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa. Steeped in tradition and history, Fawsley Hall, based in Northamptonshire, was a home built for entertaining with Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and other monarchs all enjoying its fine hospitality over the years, and now, the Silverstone to Sennen Tour.

Up at the crack of dawn the next morning, the cold engines of the cars, ranging from F-Type jaguars, to Bentley Continental Speed’s and Porsche’s, including a stunning GT3, roared to a start as guests headed down the winding country roads, from Fawsley Hall to the home of British Racing, Silverstone. Here they began at the Porsche Experience Centre.

With the opportunity to drive a Porsche 911, Cayman and Boxter around the centre circuit, designed to test their skills on the kick back plates and skid pan runway, along with an instructor, guests were able to give each other a sneak preview of their driving capabilities.

Following this, guests ventured to Cadbury House Hotel on the outskirts of Bristol, only to be greeted in true country style by the hotel’s Guinea Foul roaming the grounds. With truly breath-taking views across North Somerset and the Bristol Channel.

Day two offered some truly breath-taking coastal roads including the Atlantic highway, all the way down ending up in Penzance.

Penzance offered our guests two stunning boutique hotels in Chapel House and the Artist Residence, epitomising everything that you would want from a coastal South West hotel. Chapel House, a historic boutique hotel blends Georgian style and architecture with contemporary comfort, whilst Artist Residence is tucked away in a historic Georgian House and offers a fun & friendly boutique retreat.

It was only natural that dinner was held at here at Ben Tunicliffe Sennen Cove. Where Ben, joined guests for the reception and congratulated them on their successful arrival, before sitting them down to talk through the five course meal and wine pairing that lay ahead of them. Using all local ingredients, Ben and his team of chefs prepared a mouth-watering meal ranging from seared scallops and sole, to a beautiful loin of venison and a particularly beautiful nutmeg custard tart.

Five courses, wine and Champagne later and the Silverstone to Sennen tour 2017 had officially come to an end.

It’s only now that we can reflect on the beauty that our island that is Britain has to offer. So many of us spend our lives going up and down the motorway, from A to B, rushing and commuting and moaning about the English weather. When you stop, explore and open your eyes, you realise that beauty is all around us, especially along the South Coast, and Sennen Cove.
